As mentioned before. Sallie and I were under the impression that our Nissan Frontier Pick-up would be up to the task of hauling the new trailer. According to Nissan specifications it would be able to tow a 5,000 lb. trailer.

The Zeppelin 24' trailer is a new, light weight unit which would max out at around 5000 lbs. but it proved too heavy for the Nissan to safely tow. Handling was perfect but the weight of the trailer put too much of a strain on the Nissan causing slow starts and difficulty towing up even slight inclines. Rather than finding ourselves in precarious situations on the road we made the decision to sell the Nissan and purchase a new, suitable pickup truck capable of handling both the weight not only of this trailer but any future unit we might decide upon.

After much searching and weighing the specs we decided to purchase a Chevrolet Silverado, 2500HD, Duramax Turbo Diesel with a six speed Allison transmission. The rated HP is 360 and the torque is 650 ft lbs. We made this decision based upon future equipment we expect to purchase (fifth wheel).
