JA3CZY visits Summit Point, WV...October, 2001
In October of 2001, JA3CZY, Elvin, made a trip to the US to visit and fellowship with some of his DX buddies. Elvin took us up on our offer to host him at our home in Summit Point, WV and stayed with us for almost one week. We had fun touring the Shenandoah Valley and visited Washington, DC, Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, Skyline Drive, Shenandoah National Park in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Harper's Ferry National Park in West Virginia and even the contest station of the PVRC, W3LPL!

Do you think the W3LPL contest station can be heard well enough on 40 meters with 3 over 3 at 200'?

Elvin enjoyed a few 'Mountain Top' QSO's on 2 meters and 70cm atop Skyline Drive at the 3000' level.

Fall is a special time of the year on picturesque Skyline Drive.

Elvin isn't a stranger to work. Here he had no objection to using the leaf blower to clear the driveway!

At the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC, Elvin and I had a great time at the WWII exhibit. Here Elvin is standing in front of a Mitsubishi Zero

Elvin loved to talk to all his JA buddies from K8NY's station every evening.

Elvin is enjoying a wonderful German dish at the Bavarian Inn in Shepherdstown, WV just 3 miles from historic Antietam National Battlefield in Antietam, MD.
